Desc: This requirement is being procured in accordance with FAR 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and an award will be made in accordance with FAR Par 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The U.S. Department of Energy, Federal Energy Technology Center (FETC), Pittsburgh, PA 15236 intends to issue a Request for Quotations to procure an electric resistance-heated furnace for use in evaluating moderately long term refractory-molten slag interactions. The test chamber will be exposed to a simulated gasification environment provided by a gas delivery system designed and built by the Albany Research Center located at the U.S. Department of Energy, Albany Research Center, 1450 Queen Ave., SW, Albany, OR 97321. The proposed purchase order is 100% set-aside for Small Business concerns with a Size Standard of 500 employees. Evaluation is based on best value including cost and ability to meet stated requirements. Tentative issue date for RFQ is on or about August 31, 1999. A firm fixed priced purchase order will be issued. Anticipated award will be on or about September 15, 1999.
