The US Bureau of Reclamation requires specified quantities of composite Optical Ground Wire (OPGW), OPGW installation hardware, documentation, testing, and installation assistance to be furnished. The cable shall be designed for aerial installation on electric utility power lines and shall serve dual functions as a ground wire and as a telecommunications cable designed for the high speed transmission of voice, data, and video communications. The OPGW and hardware will be shipped f.o.b. destination for delivery to Western Area Power Administration, Sierra Nevada Region, Redding Maintenance Facility, Redding, CA. The solicitation/contract will include base and optional quantities to be awarded for FY99 and FY00. This solicitation is issued pursuant to FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13.5 Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. Quotations will be evaluated to determine the quote which is the best value to the government based on price and other factors. The solicitation will be issued under full and open competition.
