SPAWARSYSCEN San Diego, intends to solicit and award a firm fixed type contract to Space Optics of Chelmsford, MA on a sole source basis for optical components for use in two, Compact, Multi-Focal Length, Multi-Wavelength Telescopes and will include six optics total, in two sets of three. Each set will consist of a Primary Optic and two interchangeable Secondary Optics. The design requirements are as follows: a) operational wavelength range from 0.3 to 15 micrometers, b) overall telescope Aperture of 15 inches, c) overall package length less than or equal to 48 inches, d) two interchangeable secondary optics; one with 150 inch Effective Focal Length and one with 300 inch Effective Focal Length (both must have Alignment devices and Reticules to achieve placement accuracy of plus or minus 10 millionths of an inch [0.25 micrometers]), e) all optics must have potting groves and bevels, f) system quality better than or equal to one-eighth of a wavelength at 633 nanometers and better than or equal to one-thirtieth of a wavelength root mean square (RMS), g) zero coefficient of thermal expansion, h) designed to serve one inch diameter focal plane, i) a baffle design which provides optimum veiling as well as glare and infrared background suppression, j) must accommodate afocal modification, k)the system must be designed such that all primaries match all secondaries to better than one thirtieth of a wavelength rms total wavefront error. Mirror coatings shall be Pilkington 747 or equivalent. The requirement is a follow-on to a previous purchase. Commencing approximately October 08, 1999 for delivery NLT March 1, 2000.
