The USDA Forest Service intends to issue a solicitation for centralized manufacturing, warehousing and distribution for Forest Service uniforms, both dress and field. This Centralized Automated Uniform Distribution Program shall service approximately 27,000 personnel at approximately 900 locations. The contractor will be required to establish and maintain: an inventory management program, a toll free automated ordering system, a quality and internal control system, a system for processing individual orders, a distribution process for packaging and shipping, a system to establish and monitor individual accounts, maintain a data processing system with software compatible with the National Finance Center to retrieve transmitted uniform allowance filed on a daily basis; keeping a history and running balance of each employee's account, billing and accountability records for items shipped and returned, and an automated reporting system. Contract award date estimated at April, 2000, for a term of one year with 4 options years. Lion Apparel, Inc holds current contract of this program. The solicitation will be issued under SIC Codes 5136/5137, of which the size standard to be classified as a small business is 100 employees or less.
