The U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command (SBCCOM) intends to negotiate with the Environmental Technologies Group, Inc. (ETG), in Baltimore, Maryland, on a non-competitive basis (per FAR 6.302-1) for a firm-fixed-priced modification (with options) to the Biological Detector (BD) production contract DAAM01-97-C-0013. The BDs are highly specialized equipment that incorporates state-of-the-art design concepts for immunoassays, micro-sensors, and micro-fluid transport. The purpose of this modification is to produce 46 BDs, 5 System Support Packages (SSPs), and provide on-call contractor support. An option is included for an additional 54 BDs, 5 SSPs, and on-call contractor support. Additional options are also included for BD consumables. This action represents the U.S. Army's entire known requirement. Award of the initial modification is planned for 4QFY99. The options are planned for award in FY00.
