R -- ASSIST IN MEETING 2000/2010 NATIONAL HEALTH OBJECTIVES FOR BREASTFEEDING SOL HRSA-99-MCHB-67A DUE 091099 POC Aileen Broider-301-443-5231 The Health Resources and Services Administration intends to negotiate on a SOLE SOURCE basis with Wellstart International, 4062 First Avenue, San Diego, CA 92103. This procurement shall be processed in accordance with the Simplified Acquisition Procedures in Part 13 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations. The purpose of this procurement is to contribute to reaching the year 2000/2010 National Health Objectives for breast-feeding by improving the knowledge and skills regarding lactation management of medical and nursing students, as well as postgraduate trainees in perinatal specialty training programs. The contractor shall work along with the Project Officer to select two sites to train a minimum of six faculty trainers from selected medical/nursing schools, using study modules and training manuals. The contractor must conduct site visits and assessments of the curriculum and institutional plans for needed modifications to the curriculum. Once the modifications have been noted, the contractor shall develop a final report on the collected information. Wellstart International is deemed the only responsible source capable of providing the required work and services. The period of performance is one year.
