Z -- MAINTENANCE, REPAIR, AND ALTERATION OF REAL PROPERTY SOL MKE-99-0036 DUE 092799 POC Mike Ratzmann 414/297-3270 General Services Administration is seeking sources to replace loose tuck pointing on the outside of the US Federal Cthse. in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Scope of Work asks for the work to start in May of 2000, to remove loose mortar from joints on the outside of the courthouse without damaging the edges of the existing masonry. Remove dust and debris from the joints. Prior to application of mortar, dampen joints to be tuck-pointed. Tightly pack mortar into joints in thin layers (approximately 6mm thick maximum). Allow layer to become "thumbprint hard" before applying next layer. Pack final layer flush with surfaces of masonry units. When mortar becomes "thumbprint hard", tool joints, protect newly pointed joints from rain, until joints are sufficiently hard enough to prevent damage. Remove loose caulking and replace with silicone caulk on the outside of the building. Steamclean the outside of the building using mild soap solution. Protect access areas and sidewalks with covers to protect personnel from falling objects while this work is in progress. Funds are not presently available for this contract. The Government's obligation under this contract is contingent upon the availability of appropriated funds from which payment for contract purposes can made. No legal liability on the part of the Government for any payment may arise until funds are made available to the Contracting Officer for this contract and until the Contractor receives notice of such availability, to be confirmed in writing by the Contracting Officer.
