Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to acquire mechanical
maintenance services using simplified acquisition procedures under the
authority of the test program for certain commercial items cited in
FAR Subpart 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. This is a
100% small business set-aside, to be issued as Request for Proposal
(RFP) No. 52SBNB9C1076. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC)
code is 7699, and the associated small business size standard is $5
million (average annual receipts for the last three fiscal years).
Services shall be performed at the NIST site in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
The method of procurement is through an
indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ), time-and-materials type
contract. The Contractor shall be responsible for mechanical
maintenance and repair around the NIST site. In addition, the
Contractor shall furnish emergency services due to equipment
breakdowns. A detailed Statement of Work (SOW) will be provided as part
of the solicitation package. SITE VISIT: A site visit will commence in
Building 301, Room A127 of the NIST site on Wednesday, September
8,1999 at 10:00 a.m. Interested parties should contact the Contract
Specialist to reserve space and to obtain directions to the site. It is
expected that the site visit will last approximately one hour. All
parties are encouraged to inspect the site to satisfy themselves
regarding general and local conditions that may affect the cost of
contract performance, to the extent that the information is reasonably
obtainable. In no event shall failure to inspect the site constitute
grounds for a claim after award. The period of performance is
anticipated to be one year from date of contract award, with the option
to extend for three additional one-year periods. All responsible small
business sources are invited to submit a proposal which will be
considered by the agency. The solicitation document will be issued on
or about September 3, 1999. Requests for solicitation packages shall be
