Contracts Office, Contract@nist.gov. The National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source
basis with NeuTek, Darnestown, Maryland, to conduct measurements using
the NIST owned Fuji BAS 2000 SPP system to determine the applicable
measurement limits for various types of radiation and radioactivity
levels. These measurements are designed to realize the potential of
this SPP system as a radiation imaging device, a quantitative
measurement instrument and a research tool to design counters for ultra
low level radioactivity measurement required by the electronic and
aerospace industry. F.O.B. Destination, Gaithersburg, Maryland. The
period of performance is 7 months from date of award. The proposed
requirement is for supplies or services for which the Government
intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the
authority of FAR 6.302. This is a sole source based on the fact that
the staff of NeuTek have an exceptionally strong background in
radiation research and are thoroughly familiar with the theory,
operation and analysis of all types of radiation detection
technologies. As a pioneer in applying the SPP technology for alpha
imaging, digital autoradiography and low-level alpha counter, NeuTek is
uniquely qualified for this project. Interested persons may identify
their interest and capability to respond to the requirement . This
notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However,
all proposals received within seven days after date of publication of
this synopsis will be considered by the Government. Information
received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of
determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A quotation
shall be requested from NeuTek under simplified acquisition procedures
and the anticipated award date is September 17, 1999. Note 22 does not
apply. See Note 26. Posted 08/27/99 (W-SN373425). (0239) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0018 19990831\B-0004.SOL)
