The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, Maryland, is the Department of Defense and the Nation's Federal Medical School and Graduate School of Nursing. The University is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the National League for Nursing and the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesiology Education Programs. As an accredited institution of higher education in the State of Maryland, USUHS qualifies for membership in the Maryland Educational Enterprise Consortium (MEEC) and intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with the University System of Maryland (a non-profit) to become a partner in the MEEC. The U.S. Naval Academy (USNA)at Annapolis, Maryland, another accredited federal institution of higher education, is also participating in this effort along with University. Institutions must be accredited in the State of Maryland to join the MEEC. The MEEC consists of over 50 Maryland public and private universities and colleges, community colleges and K-12 public schools. As participants in the Consortium, the two Federal institutions, USUHS and USNA, will be able to procure a variety of Microsoft product software licenses and media through an authorized Microsoft Reseller (Micro Age partnering with Bell Education) competitively selected by the University System of Maryland. The contract with the MEEC will be for five years and include one base year and four option years. The Microsoft products will be available at substantially discounted educational pricing.
