through solicitation number 6TSA-99-DJH-0173, is seeking to identify
sources and prospective vendors who are certified, or anticipating
certification, by the Kansas Corporation Commission to provide switched
access services within the State of Kansas. The primary service
requirements include dedicated intra-LATA private line
telecommunications services and switched access service including but
not limited to DS-0 and DS-1/T1 facilities for the transmission of
digital data at speeds varying between 56 Kbps up to or over 1.55 Mbps.
However, vendors should propose all of their service offerings
including DS-2/T-2, DS-3/T-3 etc. Access technology includes analog
(loop start and ground start) and digital (T-l, ISDN BRI, and ISDN PRI)
business lines and CO trunking. All equipment, features, maintenance,
and coverage shall be, at least, comparable to that provided commercial
customers. The equipment and services mentioned above will be used to
provide telecommunications service between specific Government sites,
between Government and commercial sites, and/or between a Government
site and an inter exchange carrier (IXC) point of presence (POP). The
first locations to be serviced are the Topeka and Wichita, Kansas
metropolitan areas. The Government's existing requirements at these
locations are as follows: Topeka: 444 S.E. Quincy St. approximately 600
stations with 1 (T-1) for DID services and 1 (T-1) for DOD services. In
Wichita the government's requirements are located at 401 Market St. and
301 Market St. At 401 Market St there are approximately 550 stations
using 1 (T-1) for DID services, 1 (T-1) for DOD services, and 1 (T-1)
to be used as a Tie-line to 301 Market St., There is one T-1 for DOD
services at the 301 Market St. location. Because of the diverse nature
of the Federal Government's telecommunications needs and the rapid
expansion of technology in this field, not all requirements may have
been addressed in this information solicitation. As technologies evolve
and the marketplace grows, additional services and service areas may be
requested. Due to the diverse nature of the Government's requirements,
the equipment and service area requirements, specifications and
configurations will be defined in future possible purchase agreements
and delivery orders. This is not a formal solicitation. However,
vendors that respond should furnish data concerning the services they
provide (including, but not limited to, those listed above), and
present (and future) areas serviced. Interested parties should address
correspondence to the address shown above Attn: Anthony D. Marion or
sent by FAX to the number shown above. Responses are due by close of
business September 10, 1999. Responses for new technology will be
accepted and considered on an ongoing basis. Posted 08/27/99
