J -- CRANE WAY ALIGNMENT SOL M67004-99-R-0022 POC Gerald S. Byrd, Contract Specialist, (912)439-6762 MODIFICATION -- This action originally publicized in the CBD dated August 16,1999 is amended to clarify questions received. 1) Q -- In paragraph (VI), item #3, does the Government desire lateral bracing with Angle Iron at 5 or 10 feet increments attached to the runway auditied back to the column or other suitable available support? A -- Runway support columns exist at interals of approximately 20 feet. Satisfactory completion of this contract may require the replacement of some or all tie backs. 2) Q -- What is the length of each runway bay, hieght, and span of each crane? A -- Both runways are approximately 40 feet high. One runway is 760 feet lond with 100 feet outside of building with a span of 36 feet, 10 inches. The other runway is 660 feet long with a span of 56 feet, 10 inches. 3) Q -- What is the rail size? A -- Crane rails are standard sized for 30 and 75 ton cranes. 4) Q -- How is the material bolted down or attached to the runway? A -- Material (rails) are bolted/welded down with clips. 5) Q -- What material is the runway beam made of? A -- Runway beam is steel. 6) Q -- Why are you wanting the rail aligned? A -- Rails are out of alignment. 7) Q -- Are there specific problems with the rail alignment now? A -- Yes, out of alignment requiring alignment. 8) Q -- What are those problems specifically? A -- Out of alignment, reference specifications provided. 9) Q -- What are the specifications on the safety line? A -- Safety line is the standard industry safety line for overhead cranes and must meet OSHA requirements. 10) Q -- Do you have pictures of the facility? Specifically the rail and attach points to runway beam. A -- No, we are not permitted to provide pictures of the interior of this facility and/or Government Installation. 11) Q -- Will clips be welded or bolted? A -- Either/Or. 12) Q -- What is the quantity size and length of tiebacks? A -- There are 154 tiebacks. Size of tiebacks aren't availalbe. 13) Q -- How arecrane stops installed? A -- Crane stops are bolted down. The closing date of this solicitation is extended until 1:00 PM EDST on the 10th day after the date of this notice is published in the Commerce Business Daily. In the event that the 10th day falls on a Saturday, Sunday or Federal Holiday, the period extends to 1:00 PM EDST on the next day that is not a Saturday, Sunday or Federal Holiday.
