amendment is adding more information to submission #359677, submitted
on 7-27-99. The following information is being added to supplement the
first CBD announcement. The closing date of this announce is being
extended to 9-9-99. All other items remain the same. Clin 0001 -- bldg.
788 (clin 0001, 0004, 0007, 0010, 0013) Maintenance for deionized water
in tanks: make up tanks to provide 1000 gallons of water per week. 1
each -- 1.5 cu. Ft. two bed deionizer 2 each -- 2.5 cu. Ft. mixed
deionizers 2 each -- 20" 5 micron pre-filters (2 filters per month) RO
UV sterilizer 2 each -- 20" .2 micron final filter (4 filters changed
every 3 months) clin 0002, 0005, 0008, 0011, 0014) Clin 0002 -- 2.5
cu. Ft. resin beds (4 each) to be replaced within 2 -- 3 days every 3
-- 4 months. They require as many as six exchanges depending on
workload. No USN medical tank. The lamp is a Sterlight ultra violet.
Ultra violet water sterilizer bulb, r-can, module 536RL. The carbon and
charcoal filters are replaced every few months, depending on the

0012, 0015) Clin 0003 -- Contractor shall provide rental of twelve (12)
deionized water tanks to maintain a support water make-up to main tank.
Eight tanks are being on-line and the remaining four are to be on
emergency stand-by. The contractor shall provide all twelve tanks upon
start date. The tanks consist of three (3) Cstion tanks, three (3)
Anion tanks, three (3) mixed bed tanks, and three (3) Chloramine carbon
filter tanks. Three (3) tanks shall have the capacity of maintaining
forty thousand gallons of water without the necessity of regeneration
of one-month run-time while on primary system. The water entering these
tanks is 98% free of all sodium ions from the reverse osmosis system.
The purity of water coming from this system allows the contractor's
bottles to last up to the specified requirement. Upon arrival at the
Naval Hospital, prior to exchanging bottles, the contractor shall
contact PWC at bldg. 8 across from the main deionized water tank
system. The primary person to contact is Wayne Morris (619-532-8716).
When Mr. Morris is unavailable, the contractor shall contact any
supervisor of PWC employees located at bldg. 8. The contractor shall
then replace exhausted primary system bottles with secondary system
bottles and place new regenerated bottles which meets original spec.'s
on secondary system. The contractor shall then take exhausted bottles
to be regenerated, which will then be brought back to PWC. This
process shall be repeated every month until the end of the contract
agreement. The following specifications shall be on the chloramine
carbon filter. Chloramine carbon filter containing virgin material
consistent with hemodialysis water purification requirements. The
contractor shall provide all material needing to keep primary and
secondary bottles on line. The primary and secondary system having a
200,000-ohm indicating light and the mixed bed having one mega ohm
indicating light. The contractor shall be responsible for maintaining
the indicating lights, all fittings and hoses connected to the bottles
provided by the contractor. The existing system can be easily modified
by the contractor to fit the contractor's bottles. The inlet is " fpt
PVC and the outlet is " fpt PVC. If necessary, for down time, the
contractor shall notify PWC prior to making any changes to the existing
fittings. PWC keeps records of water meter readings daily. The
contractor shall also keep records of water meter readings when
exchanging exhausted bottles. The contractor shall respond within
four-hours upon notification of a problem. The correction shall be made
within 24 hours of notification or contract could be cancelled for
non-compliance. The contractor shall provide services to replenish and
regenerate eight (8) 3.3 cubic feet per tank with type 1 Anion mixed
bed semi conductor nuclear grade resin, to maintain 18 megohms water
quality. This shall be performed throughout the contract terms upon PWC
request as an inclusive to the contract agreement. This should be done
in a timely manner which is within 5 working days. The contractor
shall provide labor and material to replace eight (8) ultraviolet
sterilizer lamps, type aquafine part number 3084 UV lamps. Initial
changes are required one month after contract start date. The
contractor shall replace the lamps during the term of the contract at
no charge if lamps' longevity is below eight thousand working hours.
Lamp replacement shall be done in a timely manner which is within 5
working days. PWC point of contact, Mr. Morris or a PWC supervisor
shall be notified prior to lamp replacement. As for building 14 Navy
Hospital core school, rental service of four mixed bed deionization
tanks; two tanks shall be replaced every month. The two primary tanks
shall be replaced with the two secondary tanks and the secondary tanks
shall be replaced with the two new regenerated tanks. The two
exhausted primary tanks shall be taken back for regeneration. The
contractor shall comply with all spec. as stated above. Posted 08/30/99
