The U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, CA, intends to award a contract by other than full and open competition in accordance with SUBPART 6.302-1 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations to Nanometrics Incorporated of Kanata, Onterio, Canada, for a COMMERCIAL ITEM. The sole source contract is a follow-on contract to maintain compatility of existing equipment and to avoid duplication of cost to the Government. The Government has a requirement to purchase a Satellite Seismograph System utilizing digital satellite telemetry to replace its analog microwave telemetry system. The system consists of: CLIN 0001 -- (1ea.) Libra-6 Seismic Remote Field Station, consisting of: 6 channel 24-bit digitizer; VSAT telemetry; Integrated VSAT transceiver; GPS time code receiver; 3.4 Mbytes data memory; 1.8 meter VSAT; Ku band dish; King post mount and antenna alignment hardware; Ku band SSPA and LNB; Tx/Rx cables 3m: CLIN0002 -- (1 ea.) HRD2-63 high resolution, 6-channel, 24-bit digitizer with 131 dB dynamic range. Includes GPS receiver and 3.4-Mbyte data buffer: CLIN0003 -- (1 ea.) RM3-3D Repeater electronics. Full duplex repeater. Multiplexes three input channels. HRD series data format: CLIN0004 -- (1 day) Subsystem integration and test per day: CLIN 0005 -- (1 ea.) Carina Antenna Assembly, consisting of: 3.8-meter dish. Ku Band; King post dish mount and alignment hardware; VSAT SSPB and LNB; Tx/Rx cables: CLIN 0006 -- (1 ea.) Carina central hub, consisting of: 1 Equipment enclosure, 1 Carina Combiner/Splitter (2 way); 1 Carina transceiver 64/112 Kbit; SAT-NAQS software support for 16 stations (NAQS upgrade Vers.); Waveform utilities and Naqsview; Custom system documentation; preparation of response as graph, poles & zeroes: CLIN0007 -- (10 days) Project Management and Training: Nanometrics satellite systems engineer to provide project management services. Includes liaison with selected space segment provider and preparation of link budgets: CLIN0008 -- (18 days) two Nanometrics certified field engineers on site in California for a period not to exceed 9 consecutive days (per) to assist in the installation of the proposed network: CLIN0009 -- (10days) Training course for two USGS engineers.
