COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 1,1999 PSA#2423U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, Contracts Management Division
(MD-33), Attn: ORDSC, Research Triangle Park, NC 27711 A -- PURIFICATION/CONCENTRATION AND NMR ANALYSIS OF DRINKING WATER
DISINFECTION BY-PRODUCTS SOL UKE056 POC Pamela E. Smith (919) 541-0635,
Purchasing Agent The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) intends
to negotiate a sole source procurement with Ohio State University,
Department of Chemistry, 100 West 18th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43210, to
provided purified disinfection by-products by using preparative gas
chromatography and provided NMR data and interpretation for theses
chemicals. In order to be a viable source of this work, the Contractor
must be able to perform purifications/concentrations using a Gerstel
Preparative GC System (due to the low levels of DBPs present and the
complexity of the samples) and must be able to perform NMR experiments
using at least a 600 MHz instrument or higher MHz (to provide
sufficient sensitivity to detect g levels of concentrated DBPs). EPA
believes Ohio State University is the only vendor that can provide the
requirements stated above. The period of performance is expected to be
from Effective date of award through 12 months. No Solicitation is
available. All interested parties who believe they can provide the
required services should fully explain their capabilities in writing
within 15 days of the date of this announcement. The intent of this
synopsis is to determine if any sources (s) exist and, therefore, no
RFP is available. Consequently, any response(s) failing to provide the
aforementioned data but instead choosing to merely submit a routine
letter requesting a copy of the RFP will be ignored. Submit response to
the U.S. EPA, Attn: Pamela E. Smith (MD-33), Contracts Management
Division, Research Triangle Park, NC 27711. No telephonic or faxed
request will be honored. Posted 08/30/99 (W-SN374131). (0242) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0001 19990901\A-0001.SOL)
