COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 1,1999 PSA#24231999 DOD WORLDWIDE PERSONNEL RECOVERY CONFERENCE-VENDOR DISPLAYS The
Defense Prisoner of War/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) is soliciting
information papers from companies involved in the personnel recovery
mission area or who possess systems that would be of value to personnel
recovery. Personnel recovery is the sum of military, civil, and
political efforts to obtain the release or recovery of personnel from
uncertain or hostile environments and denied areas whether they are
captured, missing, or isolated. It includes, but is not limited to
theater search and rescue; Combat Search & Rescue (CSAR), Survival
Evasion Resistance and Escape (SERE), Evasion and Recovery; and the
coordination of negotiated as well as forcible recovery options.
Personnel Recovery may occur through military action, action by
non-governmental organizations, other USG-approved action, and
diplomatic initiatives, or through any of those options. Information
papers should describe the system that is or could be of value to the
recovery function, its capabilities, and potential for improving
personnel recovery capabilities. Please limit the paper to 3-5 pages
and provide an electronic copy of the paper in a common software format
(MS Word 97 preferred). Photographs (in jpg format) graphics, etc., are
acceptable in the text of the article. DPMO will review all information
papers for inclusion in the 1999 DoD Worldwide Personnel Recovery
Conference Book, which we will provide to all conference attendees. The
solicitation or selection of papers for inclusion in the Conference
Book is not subject to reimbursement. DPMO's points of contact for
