The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) has a requirement for construction services to perform a jet grouting test section of potentially liquefiable soils at Wickiup Dam, Oregon. Reclamation would like to test the effectiveness of jet grouting loose, potentially liquefiable, foundation materials at Wickiup Dam, Oregon. The purpose of the jet grouting would be to strengthen the liquefiable soils to prevent loss of strength during strong ground shaking. The foundation materials of specific interest include diatomaceous silts, volcanic ash, silts, and sands. In addition to testing the effectiveness of conventionally sized jet grout columns, Reclamation will also be evaluating the use of large diameter jet grout columns in the 15 foot diameter range. The resulting contract is expected to be 3-4 weeks in duration. An invitation for bids is expected to be issued on or about September 13, 1999, with a bid opening date 30 days from issuance of the invitation for bids. Firms that believe they can provide similar items and services described are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer.
