36 -- PRINT VERIFICATION AND QUALITY CONTROL SYSTEM TO WORK WITH IBM INFOPRINT 4000 MICR PRINTERS SOL FHQ99HPVQMS DUE 091599 POC pam seasonwein (202)874-6728 The Department of Treasury, Financial Management Service (FMS), is conducting market research seeking vendors with systems capable of satisfying a requirement for a Print Verification and Quality Control System to work with IBM InfoPrint 4000 MICR printers. The print systems include an RSI unwinder, powered pedestal and cutter/trimmer/stacker. The InfoPrint 4000 MICR printers include two 4710 and one 4720 interfaces for connection to post-processing components. The printers are connected to RISC 6000 host computers via TCP/IP Ethernet, 10Base-T, RJ45, (10 MHz). The RISC 6000 computers run AIX, NFS and PSF 6000. The print systems are used for printing Treasury checks measuring 3.25" by 7.375". The checks are printed two-up at the rated speed of the 3900/IP 4000 printers (1,946 inches per minute or 71,870 checks per hour). The FMS requires a print verification and quality monitoring system capable of accurately scanning an 11-digit inventory control number, an 11-digit check amount, a 10-digit MICR check number and a 12-digit OCR symbol/check number on 100 percent of checks while printing at the rated speed of the InfoPrint 4000 MICR printer. The primary purpose of the system is to create an accurate audit file of the information scanned for subsequent analysis by FMS software running on the host RISC 6000 computer. The system must also be capable of monitoring the print quality and providing early warning of print quality deterioration caused by such things as low toner, defective printhead, etc. The FMS is interested in locating vendors that meet FMS mandatory requirements and can demonstrate this in short term testing of their print verification equipment with our currently installed IP 4000 MICR print systems at the Philadelphia Financial Center, 13000 Townsend Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154. The purpose of the tests are to demonstrate the capability of the equipment to accurately capturing the required data operating in our environment at the rated speed of the print systems. Interested vendors should contact Pam Seasonwein at 202-874-6728 to obtain additional information regarding specific requirements. Posted 08/31/99 (W-SN374700). (0243)
