COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 3,1999 PSA#2425National Cancer Institute, Research Contracts Branch, PSAS, 6120
Executive Blvd, EPS/Room 638, Bethesda, MD 20892-7227 66 -- FLUORESCENT IMAGING SYSTEM SOL NCI-RFQ-90226-NR DUE 092019 POC
Marsha Gorham, Purchasing Agent & Todd Cole, Contracting Officer The
National Cancer Institute (NCI), Division of Basic Science (DBS),
Laboratory of Cellular Carcinogenesis and Tumor Promotion (LCCTP),
intends to procure on a sole-source basis, a Fluorescent Imaging
System, from Intracellular Imaging, Inc.. The NCI investigator requires
an instrument that can be used in the analysis of the regulation of
vanilloid receptors. This receptor for vanilloids acts as a calcium
channel. Analysis has shown that it can cause calcium to flow into the
cytoplasm from two locations. The assay currently in use for calcium
response can only monitor calcium flow from one of these two locations
(the requested system shall monitor and measure calcium flow from both
locations). The rate of calcium response is also an important parameter
to on-going research (the system shall measure the rates of response on
a sub-second time scale (4 to 5 measurements per second). The system
shall monitor single cells and shall allow the visualization of both
calcium levels and GFP (green fluorescent protein) tagged protein
kinase C. Additionally, a system is required to monitor the
relationship between intracellular calcium levels and protein kinase C
localization. The fluorescence Imaging System shall include the
following: Imaging workstation; excitation illumination source;
computer controlled filter changer; low light level CCD camera; InCyt
IM2 image acquisition and analysis software; system electronics and
cabling; optional Olympus CK 40 inverted microscope with shutter wheel,
GFP/FURA-2 dichroic cube and filter set; 20X Fluorphase, 10X UV Oil,
Cooled CCD Camera Substitution, Computer Upgrades 256 RAM, readwrite,
CD, 25.5GB, installation, training and one year warranty. The NCI
investigator believes that the aforementioned instrument and
organization is the only source that can completely satisfy their
requirements. The Contractor shall provide a Year 2000 Warranty for
each hardware, software, and firmware product delivered. The award will
be in the aggregate for all items listed herein. This is not a request
for competitive quotation, however, if any interested party believes
it can meet the above requirement, they may submit a statement of
capabilities. Information furnished must be in writing and must contain
sufficient detail, to allow NCI to determine if the party can meet the
requirement. Capability statements must be received in the Contracts
Office by 2:00 PM EST on September 20, 1999. If you have any questions,
please contact Marsha Gorham, Purchasing Agent on (301) 496-8607. A
determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract
based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of
the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the
purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
