Wastewater Lagoon Training Video and Operation & Maintenance Brochure
The Region 8 Office of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in
Denver, Colorado is soliciting interest from qualified contractors to
develop and produce a training video and educational brochure on the
operation and maintenance of wastewater lagoons. The EPA will use
contractor support to develop a video and brochure which demonstrates
"why it is important" to perform the necessary operation and
maintenance procedures at Tribal wastewater lagoons. The target
audience will be Tribal wastewater operators and Tribal Councils
throughout Region 8 Indian Country. The video will serve as a training
tool to educate audiences about the potential environmental
consequences, human health issues and public safety concerns of lagoon
systems. The video and accompanying brochure will place emphasis on
how a Tribe can properly operate and maintain wastewater lagoons to
ensure environmental compliance. The material will identify the basic
operational steps and suggest an appropriate maintenance schedule to
assist the operator stay in compliance. The training material will
provide information on how to identify these problems and provide
recommendations on how to achieve or maintain compliance. Specific
contractor tasks include:1) prepare and submit a workplan and cost
estimate, 2) perform a literature search for relevant information, 3)
identify effective wastewater lagoon maintenance and operation
practices, 4) develop a video script and educational brochure, 5)
perform locational shooting at a Tribal wastewater lagoon(s), 6)
utilize a professional narrator to narrate the video, and 7) deliver
final versions of video and brochure to EPA. The contractor selected
should have knowledge of working effectively with Tribal governments.
