Note #1. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items
prepared in accordance with format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as
supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This
announcement constitutes the only solicitation; and a written
solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation clauses and
provisions are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular
97-13. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code for this
acquisition is 3823. The Food and Drug Administration intends to award
a Purchase Order using Simplified Acquisition Procedures September 10,
1999 to DAKO Corporation, 6392 VIA Real, Carpinteria, CA. This system
is an automated horizontal slide processing system compatible with
currently available reagents for the staining of formalin-fixed,
paraffin embedded tissues, frozen sections, cytospins, cells smear and
fine needle aspirates. It offers: 1) preprogrammed protocols and
accepts ones currently used by FDA; 2) segregates hazardous waste for
disposal; 3) automation of all steps; 4) accesses up to 64 different
reagents; 5) standard documentation; 6) teflon-coated precision tip
which provides dependable results without the need for frequent
replacements; 7) capability to process 48 slides in a run; 8) reagent
dispense volumes 100, 150, 200, 400 and 600 ml.; 9) customized labeling
system; and 10) desktop personal computer with printer. This notice is
not a request for quotations; however, interested parties may identify
their interest and capability to satisfy the government's requirement
no later than the response date. A determination by the Government not
to compete this proposed purchase order based upon responses to this
notice is solely within the discretion of the contracting officer. The
