Authority (hereinafter referred to as "NNEPRA") of South Portland,
Maine requests submission of bids from qualified contractors for the
rehabilitation of concrete slab bridges in accordance with the plans
and specifications, Restoration of Passenger Rail Service Plaistow, NH
to Portland, ME: Bridge Contract 01-99 Concrete Slab Bridges. The
following concrete slab bridges owned by Boston & Maine Corporation
(alternatively identified as Maine Central Railroad Co., Springfield
Terminal Railway Co., Guilford Rail System, or Guilford Rail
Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "GRS")) of North Billerica,
Massachusetts, are scheduled for work under this contract. Bridge 36.76

37.83 Harriman's Brook, located in Plaistow, NH, at mile post 273.17
Bridge 39.48 Newton Meadow Brook, located in Newton, NH, at mile post

mile post 266.67 Bridge 47.57 Great Brook, located in East Kingston,
NH, at mile post 263.43 Bridge 47.73 Agricultural Pass, located in East
Kingston, NH, at mile post 263.27 Bridge 75.58 Brackett Halls Road,

8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Prevailing Local Time, Monday through Friday at
a charge of thirty dollars ($30.00), payable by check to the Northern
New England Passenger Rail Authority. Requests for Bid Documents must
include: company name, mailing address, street address, telephone
number, FAX number, and the name and title of contact person. Sealed
bids will be received by Mr. Michael J. Murray, P.E., Executive
Director, at the office of Northern New England Passenger Rail

780-1001 Sealed bids will be received until 2:00 p.m., Prevailing Local
Time, Thursday, September 23, 1999 at which time they will be publicly
opened and announced. Any bid received thereafter will not be
considered for award and will be returned to the bidder unopened. Bid
security shall be required as called for in the Instructions to
Bidders. Requests for clarification or for extension of the bid opening
must be submitted, via fax, a minimum of seventy-two (72) hours prior
to the bid opening date. The NNEPRA reserves the right to determine
whether an extension is justified. All Bidders will be notified in
writing, via fax, of any extension or clarification. Issuance of the
Invitation for Bids does not commit the NNEPRA to award any contract,
to pay any costs incurred in preparation of a bid pursuant to
thisrequest or to procure or contract for services or supplies. NNEPRA
reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to re-advertise. As

one year thereafter, shall have any interest, direct or indirect, in
this solicitation or any contract executed subsequently, or the
