The Marine Corps Systems Command intends to negotiate a sole source, commercial item contract with GG&G of Tuscon, AZ for 283 sets (one front and one rear ring; one front and one rear insert) for the Sniper Grade Medium 30MM Scope Rings for the Designated Marksman Rifle/M-14 and M40A1. These items are considered a commercial type item; therefore it is anticipated that simplified acquisition procedures will be utilized. The Marine Corps Systems Command, has found that the GG&G Inc. Sniper Grade Medium 30 mm Scope Rings are the only mounts which meet the requirement for the accuracy and reliability of the Designated Marksman Rifle/M-14. The required accuracy is zero retention of 2 Minutes of Angle and the required reliability is .82. No RFP is available for competitive bidding; however, interested parties may submit a state of capability for satisfying this requirement, to include descriptive literature and pricing, by 17 Sep 99 to the contact person listed above.
