Contracting Officer The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Division of
Clinical Sciences (DCS), Radiation Oncology Branch plans to procure a
one-year maintenance agreement for its Xknife Lica-Based Stereotactic
Radiosurgery System Software. The Radiation Oncology Branch (ROB) is
dedicated to the care of cancer patients. The branch emphasizes the
therapy of tumors judged by most physicians to be too difficult to
treat with standard techniques. The branch has state-of-the-art
equipment, including the Xknife Lica-Based Stereotactic Radiosurgery
System, to perform procedures for treating tumors. In order to keep the
existing Knife at peak performance, on-site support of its computer
along with new software upgrades is required; furthermore, updated
versions of the imagefusion software is required for the existing
treatment planning system is required to increase efficiency and
reliability of results. The software of the Xkife is proprietary to
Radionics, Inc. As a result, Radionics is the only vendor that has
expertise and experience in the technical maintenance and upgrading of
the system's computer and software; furthermore, it is the only source
for upgrades to aforementioned system. Radionics, Inc. is the only
source known to the NCI Researchers that can provide services to the
computer and proprietary software for the aforementioned system. This
is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested
party believes it can perform the above requirement, it may submit a
statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other
furnished information must be in writing and must contain material in
sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can perform
this requirement. Capability statments must be received in the
contracting office by 3:00 p.m. EST, on September 24, 1999. If you have

proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely
within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be
