The National Park Service, Denver Service Center, 12795 West Alameda Parkway, Denver, Colorado 80225 is seeking qualified contractors who possess knowledge and experience in soil densification by vibro-compaction. The project is located at Old Faithful Village in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. The project involves improving soil density of a 14,000 square foot area at the existing evaporation/percolation pond site. Access to Old Faithful village is from West Yellowstone, Montana or Gardiner, Montana, along a two-lane paved road. The project is located approximately one-third of a mile from Old Faithful Village along a 12-foot wide dirt-surfaced road. The work includes subsurface soil improvement by vibro-compaction and delivery and placement of all sand necessary in the improvement process. All placement sand will be on-site material. Water is available at the start of the dirt-surfaced road. Soil improvement by vibro-compaction method will be limited to an approximate 14,000 square foot area where liquefaction potential improvement is required for the mat foundation of the future operations building and aeration basin. The existing soils are loose obsidian sand with groundwater at three to eight feet below existing ground surface. The loose sands extend approximately 30 to 50 ft below ground surface, where more dense cemented ash soils are found. The estimated price range for this requirement is $250,000 to $500,000.00. This requirement is open to small and large businesses. A Request for Proposals (RFP) will be issued on or about October 4, 1999 with proposals due on or about November 4, 1999. The construction site will be made available to interested offerors on September 27, 1999; 10:00am.
