The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) intends to issue a sole source contract to the National Research Council (NRC) of the National Academy of Science for Assessment of the Advanced Thermionics Program. Effort includes advice and guidance of the highest technical quality as to current and future content of the Program by reviewing existing elements of the Program and examining technologies involved in developing high-performance thermionic diodes for a variety of potential aerospace and terrestrial applications. The level of effort is estimated at about 2.5 man-years over an 18 month period of performance. Based on NRC's unique qualifications, expertise, independence, and objectivity, as well as their Congressional charter to provide DoD such unbiased services, NRC is the only source capable of providing this assessment.
