Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to clarify specifications. The due date for receipt of offers is extended to September 30, 1999. The marine biology community has much expertise in pigment measurement techniques and most, if not all, of the current methodologies having specific oceanic applications have been developed by this community. The round robin will focus on improving our understanding of the measurement variability and errors for the laboratories that are providing pigment data to the SeaWiFS, SIMBIOS, and MODIS projects for satellite pigment algorithm development and product validation. The combinations of various chemical varieties of chlorophyll and other associated pigments found in marinephytoplankton populations make the collection, preservation, shipping and analysis of the samples difficult. The round robin requires the coordinating laboratory to be a recognized expert in the field of marine biology. For this reason, the Univeristy of Maryland Center for Environmental Science is considered the only choice for this program.
