Dorsey, Contract Specialist, (202) 324-5821 This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; Quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation document and incorporated provision and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 99-12. This solicitation is being issued under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for other than maximum competition. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code is 3499 and the Business Size standard is 500 employees. Award will be made on a firm-fixed price basis. This acquisition is for Zarges brand name Aluminum Transportation Cases. All aluminum cases shall be of the exact sizes and dimensions of Model Number K470 as follows: (1) 11 each of part number 40-565, with internal dimensions of 29.5"x21.75"x15", external dimensions of 31.5"x23.75"x15.75"; (2) 11 each of part number 40-859, with internal dimensions of 21.7"x21.7"x15", external dimensions of 23.7"x23.7"x15.7"; (3) 70 each of part number 40-564, with internal dimensions of 21.75"x13.75"x15", external dimensions of 23.75"x15.75"x15.75"; (4) 88 each of part number 40-678, with internal dimensions of 21.75"x13.75"x12.25", and external dimensions of 23.75"x15.75"x13"; (5) 30 dollies each of part number 40-607, with 2 fixed and 2 swivel casters with roller bearings non-marking tires 580 x 380mm in size capacity. The aluminum cases shall meet or exceed the minimum requirements set forth: (a) aluminum stackable containers, (b) rigid butt welded rim and base extrusion, (c) no corner joints, (d) double beading of corners, (e) solid lid corner castings, (f) one continuous lid hinge, (g) plastic covered stainless steel sprung alloy handles, (h) two webbing lid restraining straps, (I) provisions for small padlock on each catch, (j) provision for lead/wire seal on each catch, (k) built in rubber lid seal and (l) interlocking lugs (m) watertight, (n) locking lids, and (o) designed for stacking and palletizationwith existing Bureau cases. The transportation cases will be obtained to augment the existing equipment used in the FBI's deployment vehicles, aircraft carriers, and vans. Based on market research, it has been determined that the brand name item is the only product that can meet the FBI's needs to interlock with existing equipment and designed for stacking and palletization of items being transported. This contract will be awarded as a commercial item using the Simplified Acquisition Procedure under the test program. The Buy American Act applies. Destination- FOB, to Quantico, VA 22135. To insure that sufficient information is available, the vendor shall furnish as part of their quotation, technical capabilities, pricing, all descriptive material (such as illustrations, drawings or other information) necessary for the purchasing activity to determine wether the product meets the minimum requirement. Quotes should be submitted to FBI Headquarters to the attention of the Contract Specialist, no later than 4:30 p.m., EST, 9/22/99, clearly marked with RFQ #828509.
