The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has a requirement for laboratory renovations at its Mid-Continent Ecology Division Laboratory, 6201 Congdon Boulevard, Duluth, MN. Work involves the renovation of Lab 241, consisting of approximately 430 sq/ft. of laboratory space. The project includes the removal of existing lab benches, casework, wall storage, ceiling grid/tile, wire raceway, plumbing, lighting and exhaust systems. Walls shall be patched and repainted, the existing terrazzo floor shall be ground and resealed, and a new 2' X 4' acoustic lay-in ceiling and grid shall be included. The new lab furnishings will include polypropylene cabinetry with resin tops, integral sinks and utility chases along walls and at peninsula bench space. (Lab 241 is a metal trace analysis lab, therefore all systems must be of plastic/polypropylene construction.) New surface mounted wire raceways shall provide power to work stations along walls. Surface mounted outlets will provide power to peninsula stations. New exhaust runs shall also be included, as required by equipment. The anticipated contract performance period is 6 months after receipt of notice to proceed. The estimated price range is between $150,000 and $200,000.
