COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 17,1999 PSA#2434US AMRY WAR COLLGE -- TECHNOLOGY AND MATERIEL GAME The U.S. Army
conducted a Technology and Materiel Game on 26-30 July, 1999, at the
U.S. Army War College's Center for Strategic Leadership, Carlisle
Barracks, PA. The event was sponsored by the Assistant Secretary of the
Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology), the Training and Doctrine
Command and executed by the Army Materiel Command. The purpose of the
game was to assess the Army's current science and technology investment
strategies and gain fresh insights and recommend courses of action in
shaping future Army investment strategies for emerging and enabling
technologies. The game focused on the strategic business and technology
investment decisions needed to assure desired capabilities for the Army
in the 2020 era. The game participants included an array of senior
research and development managers from across government, academic and
private sectors. The input from industry, other government agencies,
and academia into the game helped identify technology options for those
future warfighting capabilities. Certain game information
(presentations, game materials, results, "Hot Wash", etc.) is available
to authorized parties. For more information on the Army's Technology
and Materiel Game, please contact Ms. Stewart by e-mail --
