Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, AL intends to award a firm
fixed price commercial item contract for instructional services to
conduct classes entitled "Welding Design" and "Welding QV". Offeror
shall provide (other than those provided by the Government) all
services, personnel, materials, audio visuals aids, audio-visuals
equipment, training aids, lodging, and facilities necessary to present
these courses of instruction. The Welding Design course teaches the
student, with limited knowledge of welding or no background in welding,
to create and draft replacement designs, to redesign or reinforce
welding designs and to communicate this information to field personnel.
All sessions of Welding Design will be conducted at the contractor's
facility. The Welding Design course dates for session FY00-01 are 01-05
May 2000; optional session FY01-01 dates are 30 April 04 May 2001; and
optional session FY02-01 dates are 29 April 03 May 2002. Session
length is 36 hours, 4 days, and class size will be 20 students. The
contractor shall provide a staff that is experienced in administering
and instructing short courses of instruction. The instructor staff
assigned to the Welding Design course shall consist of two to five
instructors. Instructors shall have at least ten within the last 15
years experience working in welding design, operations, methods,
testing, communications, and estimating; and, instructors shall have at
least three within the last five years in teaching welding related
courses of instruction. Welding QV teaches the student to interpret the
various methods and techniques employed in weldments and assuring the
quality of welds through lectures, conferences, and practical exercise
sessions. All sessions of Welding QV will be conducted at the
contractor's facility. The Welding QV course dates for session FY00-01
are 31 January 04 February 2000 and session FY00-02 dates are 28
February 03 March 2000. Optional session FY01-01 dates are 29 January
02 February 2001 and optional session FY01-02 dates are 26 February 02
March 2001. Optional session FY02-01 dates are 28 January 01 February
2002 and optional session FY02-02 dates are 25 February 01 March 2002.
