Titus, (618) 229-9539 This combined synopsis/solicitation is amended as follows: Delete the following language: "Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization (DITCO) is announcing its intent to issue a procurement under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 for Thrane & Thrane (specific make and model application) mobile telephones with prepaid minutes for service with compatible (64 Kbps capable) M-4 INMARSAT satellite terminals. Use of the Thrane & Thrane specific equipment is essential to the Government's requirements, thereby precluding consideration of a product manufactured by another company, because it meets or exceeds expectations for high speed data transmission and compatibility with Standard Telephone Unit Third Generation (STU-III) and Standard Terminal Equipment (STE). No other manufacturer offers comparable equipment that meets or exceeds weight and size of the equipment." After the decscription in CLIN 0001 add "or Equal. Salient characteristics include 64Kbps transmission rate; weight of 5 kg or less; compatibility with Standard Telephone Unit Third Generation (STU-III) and Standard Terminal Equipment (STE); ISDN, RS-232, and RJ-11 interfaces; compact size suitable for carry-on air travel." After the description for CLIN 0002 add "or Equal. Salient characteristic: requires compatibility for usage with CLIN 0001." After the description for CLIN 0003 add "or Equal. Salient characteristic: case of cloth or suitable backpack material of appropriate size to provide coverage for CLIN 0001 item." Prior to the sentence "DFARS 252.212-7001 applies to this acquisition", add the following: "The following FAR provision applies to this acquisition: FAR 52.211-6. OFFERS OF EQUAL PRODUCTS MUST MEET THE SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS, CLEARLY IDENTIFY ITEM BY BRAND NAME AND/MAKE OR MODEL NUMBER, AND INCLUDE DESCRIPTIVE LITERATURE.
