acquisition regulations per FAR 12. THIS IS A COMBINED
SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the
only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written
solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation document
incorporates provisions and clauses which are in effect through Federal
Acquisition Circular 97-07. Applicable FAR clauses are incorporated by
reference: Prompt Payment 52.249-1; Fixed price 52.243-1;

SPECIFICATIONS/MODIFICATIONS: Tunnel opening to be 32 inches high and
38-1/4 inches wide. Install single linear diode array technology.
Distortion should be equal or less when compared to the old Linescan
System 102 x-rays. Linescan V Electronic Package -- the use of any
imaging feature enhancements must not require conveyor belt stoppage.
Adjust the one-stop contrast feature Hi-Pen (high penetration) setting
to make it darker than the current standard setting. Provide a single
17 inch HR (high resolution) monitor; should toggle black and white to
E-Scan. Keyboard should be attached to x-ray unit by means of a 15 foot
cable, so keyboard is portable (moveable). Install 98.43 inch sloping
front end conveyor belt with height adjustable legs. Placement of
height adjustable legs should be 30 inches back from the front of the
conveyor (measured on the slope). Adjustable legs should be 14 inches
long with a 3 inch foot adjuster. Legs should be sufficiently strong to
support 600 pounds with a brace attached towards the rear of the
conveyor. X-ray table should be two meters long. The x-ray exit table
belt from the top of the belt to the floor must be 32 inches high to
allow baggage to drop slightly to the existing delivery conveyor belts
at O'Hare International Airport which range from 31-1/4 to 31-3/8
inches high. Conveyor belt must operate at a speed of 60 feet per
minute or equal to the Linescan 102. Conveyor belt must be powered by
heavy dutypower rollers. The power roller motor should not exceed 57
D.B. noise level and should be properly insulated to reduce noise. A 32
inch roller bearing pop-out roller of 2 inch diameter must be attached
to the exit conveyor to bridge the gap from the x-ray to the
inspection conveyor belt system. Conveyor exit end caps (location of
power roller) must be a smooth continuous inside surface to facilitate
unobstructed flow of baggage through the x-ray unit. Facia panels on
the entry and exit ends of the x-ray tunnel are designed so that the
leading edge does not fold around into the tunnel. SAFETY FEATURES:
Double set of overlapping lead curtains spaced 6 to 8 inches apart at
the front and back ends of the x-ray tunnel (same feature as the
Linescan System 102.) Pinch guards over the roller ends at the x-ray
conveyor belt system. The guards should be a molded end cap that
completely encloses any possible safety hazard. protective caps must be
an integral part of the conveyor system so as not to loosen or detach.
The exterior surface of the end caps and the conveyor system must be
coated with soft rubber molding to prevent injury. Remove emergency
shutoff switch must be at the end of a 10 foot cable. There must be an
emergency recessed stop button (switch) on the entry conveyor belt
located near the support leg on the control panel side. Drawing
