NASA/GRC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a prime contractor to provide labor, materials and equipment to install new direct burial, fiber optic cable and fire alarm and security monotoring communication systems at NASA's Plum Brook Facility at Sandusky, Ohio. Work includes upgrade of fire alarm systems at various buildings with smoke, heat, manual and projected beam detectors ; and monitors, printers, fire alarm panels, command center equipment and related software and hardware. Work on security monotoring systems at various buildings includes new access control equipment, wiring, conduit, and related communication equipment, software and hardware. Approximately 32 space propulsion research facility buildings are involved. The order of magnitude for this procurement is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Period of performance is 240 days from issuance of notice to proceed in January 2000. The SIC Code for this procurement IS 1578. The anticipated release date of the RFP is on or about October 18, 1999 with proposals due tentatively November 19, 1999. All qualified responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Internet Note "B". All prospective offerors shall notify this office before October 18, 1999 to be placed on mailing list to receive the RFP.
