synopsis/solicitation for commercial items or services prepared in
accordance with format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with
additional information included in this notice. This announcement
constitutes the only solicitation; and a written solicitation will not
be issued. This solicitation is issued Request for Quotation (RFQ
No.053195). The solicitation clauses and provisions are those in effect
through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-12. The Standard Industrial
Classification (SIC) Code for this acquisition is 3821 . The Food and
Drug Administration's (FDA's) has a requirement to purchase a Coaxial
Germanium Detector, and supporting electronics . The purchase will be
made on a sole source basis to Canberra Industries, Inc. Canberra will
provide the following: One (1) 556A, Coax Detector; One (1) 9633, ICB
ADC, 16k; One (1) 9645 ICB HVPS; One (1) 9615 ICB Amplifier; One (1)
2100-1, NIM BIB Power Supply; One (1)GC5020, Coxial HPGE, Vacuum and
One (1) 7500SL, Vertical Slim-LineCryostat. This Detector is needed for
radioactivity found in radiopharmaceutical used for monitoring
personnel handling radioactive material, a requirement of the Nuclear
Regulatory Commission. This system must be Y2K compatible to other FDA
field office equipment, and includes an Internet configurations that
will allow operation remotely at any time. This is important when
handling radiopharmaceutical products for Methods of Validation, due to
the short half-life- expiration time. The vendor shall warrant normal
warranty and provide any needed assistance after installation. The
following FAR provisions apply to this solicitation: 52.212-1,
Instructions to Offerors-Commercial; 52.212-2 Evaluation -- Commercial
Items. All offerors are to include a completed copy of the provision
at 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and Certifications-Commercial
Items, with their offer. The Following FAR Clauses apply to this

following provision also applies to this acquisition, 52.232-33
Mandatory Information for Electronic Funds Transfer Payment. Quotes
submitted in response to this solicitation shall be submitted by
September 24, 1999, 4:00 PM. Eastern Time to the above address .
Sources may submit descriptive literature which fully demonstrate that
their product meets the brand name specification which shall be
considered by the Agency. This procurement is being awarded as a
simplified acquisition in accordance with FAR Supart 13.5. See note 23
