U.S. Department of Energy, Federal Energy Technology Center intends to purchase under sole source an instrument to image the void fraction distribution in a cold circulating fluidized bed. The instrument will be based on patented capacitance measurement techniques non-developmental and will be suitable for imaging gas-solids multiphases flows in the FETC cold flow circulating fluidized bed (CFCFB). Only Pro Dyn has the demonstrated capability to produce a capacitance imaging system which will meet the imaging rate and spatial resolution requirements. The ProDyn system will utilize a 32 electrode/level design which will provide a 193 pixel resolution for each level. This action is being awarded under FAR 12.603(a)(2) and will obligate FY 99 funds.
