CaccivioBT@navair.navy.mil, CaccivioBT@navair.navy.mil. The Naval Air
Systems Command intends to issue a cost plus fixed fee (CPFF) delivery
order under Basic Ordering Agreement N00019-97-G-0167 with McDonnell
Douglas Corporation (MDC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Boeing
Company, for radar vendor competition and analysis to assess the
feasibility and reduce the risk of integrating an Active Electronically
Scanned Array (AESA) Radar into the F/A-18E/F aircraft weapon system.
The anticipated period of performance for this effort is 18 months. As
sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the F/A-18 E/F aircraft,
MDC is the only known firm which possesses the capability and requisite
specialized experience, technical knowledge, and data of aircraft's
design and operation to perform this study and provide required
report/analysis within the required timeframe. This synopsis is for
informational purposes. See Note 22 -- NAVAIR Synopsis No. 20137-99.
