Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to clarify questions received from various vendors. Question 1: Regarding the "Windows NT and DEC Alpha (UNIX)" systems to which this storage system will connect as described in requirement #1: (a) What are the hardware configurations (make/model) of each? (b) What OS (i.e. variety of UNIX)? What version of the OS for each? (c) Do these servers already have host bus adapters (HBA) to connect to the fibre channel SAN? If not, do they have available slots for the contractor to provide HBAs in their bid, or will the HBAs be provided by the government? Answer 1(a)and(b): Dell Server Running Windows NT 4.0 and 5.0 and DEC Alpha Server-4100 Unix version V4.0D. Answer 1(c): Each server will require a HBA. Also thedevice must be able to support at least 10 host for future upgrades. Note: This storage is for data and not for a SAN. Question 2: How much of the storage must be on solid state disks? Answer 2: Need disk storage space of 100GB and disk cache of 512MB. Question 3: Do you require redundancy for any of the components of the network? If so, which ones, or do you require the contractor to design and propose a NSPOF solution? Answer 3: No, this interface is all fibre channel. Question 4: Is the physical requirement for rack-amount or stand-alone tower form factor? Answer 4: The physical form factor is not important as long as it is upgradeable. Question 5: Do you require RAID controller itself to be redundant? Answer 5: No. Question 6: Do you require the Drive channels to be fibre as well, or is Ultra2 LVD sufficient? Answer 6: Ultra2 LVD is sufficient for the Drive Channels. Question 7: Do you require an extra hard drive in the RAID designated as a, Warm spare? Answer 7: A RAID Level-5 should have an extra driveas a Warm spare, so yes. Question 8: Do you require fibre host controllers for each server as well? Answer 8: Yes for both hosts NT and DEC Alpha Server-4100 (UNIX V4.0D) but should be easily expandable to ten host. Question 9: Do you require fibre cable as well? If so, what lengths? Answer 9: Yes, 20 meters for each host connection. Question 10: What is the quantity of units? Answer 10: Will connect this one RAID system to two host then upgrade later to 10 hosts. Question 11: Is the Fibre Channel interface required to be an FC-AL public loop (Fabric Login), point-to-point connection (FCP-SCSI), or another type? Answer 11: FCP-SCSI Question 12: What versions of the listed operating systems shall be supported? Answer 12: Windows NT 4.0, Windows NT 2000, Dec Unix V4.01d (Alpha-Server 4100), SGI IRIX 6.5 Question 13: What quantities of NT and DEC Alpha computers are required to be supported simultaneously? Answer 13: Will start with one NT and one DEC Alpha and then grow to ten hosts (SGI's, Alpha's, Linux, NT). Question 14: What are the requirements for installation support and post-installation support? Answer 14: None. Need telephone support and good installation instructions.
