D -- NOTICE OF INTENT TO NEGOTIATE A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT WITH IBM Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract utilizing Simplified Acquisition procedures under the authority of FAR Part 13 with IBM Learning Services Global Government Sales Specialist,; IBM, 6710 Rockledge Dr., Bethesda, MD 20817 for IBM Education Card. Training cards must include unlimited education from IBM for one economical price. Unlimited IBM Learning Services education and training public classes or conferences for a entire year for one flat rate. Courses Offered Coast to Coast to accommodate attendance by participants from the San Diego, CA geographic area as well as Washington D.C. Course offerings must include, but are not limited to ADSM, AIX, MVS, Application Development, AS/400, CICS, DB2, e-Business, Internet Security, Java, MQSeries, Network Computing, Object Technology, OS/2, OS/390, PSSP, RVSD, SP, Sysplex, VSD, Windows NT and Year 2000. Training provided shall be to the extent that upon successful completion the attendee will be capable of the following actions, to include but not limited to AIX programming, configuring and managing disk space allocation; adding deleting users; job scheduling; hardware and software configuration; system startup/shutdown; backup/recovery; contingency planning; upgrades; configuring and managing unique software associated with the SP; and installation and configuration of nodes. System administration for performing SP system and database backups using ADSM and the IBM 3494 backup tape drives. Able to assist the primary SP systems administrator in scheduling, execution and documentation of ADSM backup functions. As well as be able to assist primary systems administrator in the installation, configuration and overall management of both the SP test and development environments. The proposed action is for supplies and services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The government believes that only one responsible source can provide the supplies/services that will satisfy the agency requirements. The contractor holds the proprietary hardware, engineering and software data. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes but responses received on or before September 29th, 1999, 12:00 pm PST will be evaluated. A determination by the Contracting Officer not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
