Automatic Addressing System Center (DAASC) is an element of the
Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). Primary customers included Army, Navy,
Air Force, General Services Administration, and Civil organizations.
The primary function of DAASC is to transmit and route standard
logistics transactions to Deparment of Defense (DoD) sources. Other
functions of DAASC include: maintaining an information database and
archive of transaction history, providing communications
interoperability, and providing information reporting and distribution.
DAASC also is responsible for updating and maintaining address
databases for both the DoD Activity Address Directory (DoDAAD) and
Military Assistance Program Address Directory (MAPAD). DAASC performs
these functions using a number of organically developed Automated
Information systems (AIS). Transactions flow across the Defense
Information System Network (FTP and SNA) and Switch/Dial-Up networks
using the following protocols: AUTODIN, FTP, e-mail, asynchronous, and
bisynchronous. Transaction formats include American National Standards
Institute (ANSI) X12, user defined files (UDF), Defense Logistics
Standard System (DLSS), Defense Logistics Management System (DLMS, and
Joint Army Navy Airforce Publication (JANAP) 128. Potential sources
are sought to identify alternatives to current DAASC operations.

should not be construed as a solicitation. Information on potential
alternatives to current DAASC operations could include, but is not
limited to: 1) innovative business practices/services; 2) software
