Technology Center-National (NLECTC-National), is a program of the
National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Office of Science and Technology
(OS&T). Aspen Systems Corporation (ASC) is the Prime Contractor, and in
conjunction with the Office of Law Enforcement Standards (OLES) of the
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), jointly
administer the Law Enforcement and Corrections Standards and Testing
Program. This program is designed to assist law enforcement and
corrections agencies in selecting and procuring safe and reliable
equipment. Through the Law Enforcement and Corrections Standards and
Testing Program, scientists and engineers work together with criminal
justice professionals to develop minimum performance standards for
equipment, to test equipment used by law enforcement agencies in
NIJ/NLECTC certified laboratories, and to disseminate the results
through equipment performance reports. Aspen Systems Corporation
(NLECTC) intends to testPathogen-, Cut, and Puncture-Resistant Gloves
for Law Enforcement and Corrections Use in accordance with the
requirements of NIJ Test Protocol 99-114. NLECTC invites manufacturers
of protective gloves to participate in this testing program for the
first round of testing, tentively scheduled for early to mid November
1999 timeframe. The initial round of testing will be paid for by
NLECTC, which is an estimated cost savings of $1000 per model tested
for the manufacturer. The Manufacturer's models that are tested and
found to meet the requirements of the test protocol will be listed in
an upcoming NLECTC Equipment Performance Report that will be issued to
criminal justice agencies nationwide. Manufacturers interested in
participating in the Protective Glove testing program should call the
NLECTC POC and have a questionnaire sent to them. Questionnaires must
be returned to NLECTC by 5:00 p.m. EST Friday, October 15, 1999 to Mr.
