J -- PAINTING INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR OF THE U.S.DREDGE WHEELER SOL DACW29-99-R-0033 POC Michael Johnson, Contract Specialist, 504-862-2879 An indefinite delievery/indefinite quantity for the cleaning, preparation and painting of the U.S. Dredge Wheeler at the New Orleans District. The contract will be for a base period and three one year option periods. The contrator shall be capable of providing the necessary labor, supervision, tools, equipment, paint, materials and supplies to perform cleaning and preparation, priming and painting of the interior and exterior sdurfaces. The Wheeler is an all steel, sea going large class hopper dredge. The hull dimensions are as follows: Overall length 408 feet 3 inches, length B.P. 384 feet, Breadth Molded 78 feet and Breadth at Wheelhouse catwalks 82 feet. The area to be painted will be described in each Task Order. The contractor will inspect the site prior to each order to familiarize himself with allaspects of the job to minimize problems relative to estimation and accomplishment of work. All steel surfaces shall be cleaned and prepared for painting in accordance with the applicable Surface Preparation Specifications. There shall be no abrasive blast cleaning performed on the vessel. The period of performance will usually be required during the vessel's down period from approximately August thru January of each year. Some service maybe required during other months of the year.
