Z -- REPAIR/UPGRADE INCINERATOR SOL 1999S00343 POC Susan Varga-Sinka, Contract Specialist, (770)488-2619 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) contemplates an award for a specialized construction contract to provide all necessary labor, equipment, materials, incidental accessories and supervision for the repair and upgrade of an existing International Waste Industries (IWI) Incinerator Model DR-500XL. The Incinerator is rated at 500 lb/hr of Type 4 waste and currently is operating as a semi-automatic ram fed pathological incinerator. This project will require specialized trade in SIC CODE 1799. Other work included, but not limited to, the removal of primary and secondary chamber refractory linings, main control instrumentation panels, removal of fuel oil piping and controls, removal of existing hydraulic cylinders, valves and hoses. Work will include relining incinerator, refurbishing seals, modification to incinerator loader with interlocks control system, upgrading existing hydraulic system, replacement of doors, cylinders, valves and hoses and a new charging hopper lid with a hopper fireprevention spray system to include automatic electronic piping and controls. Contractor will need to provide new PLC control system with controls and instrumentation, including wiring and software. Painting will be completed with high temperature paint. The estimated construction costs are between $100,000 to $250,000. A Pre-Bid Conference and Site Visit is tentatively scheduled for November 2, 1999 at 9:00 AM at the CDC site, 1600 Clifton Road, Atlanta, Georgia.
