The questions listed below were received from various vendors in response to the original posting and modification #1, #2, #3 (modification #1 is equivalent to the original posting and modification #3 is equivalent to modification #2 (computer problems while posting)) posting of this solicitation. Answers to follow-up questions are provided below. They are not cross-referenced in the Minimum Salient Characteristics list; however, reference to what section of the list the question refers to is listed at the beginning of the question section. Please refer to all postings for pertinent information. Follow all instructions when submitting a bid. Bidders must be registered with the Central Contractor Registration and be able to provide Certs and Reps to this office. Interested parties have until COB o n 29 Sep 99 to submit bids. Please provide the evaluation criteria in detail including the evaluation weight factors, i.e. 50/50, 40/60 for each evaluation component. EAFB Response: Technical Specification and Performance -- 50 / Cost -- 50 2. Reference Requirement No. 2. This requirement describes features specific to the MTI Gladiator products. If functional equivalence is not acceptable, please explain why not. EAFB Response: 100% functional equivalence is acceptable as stated in the technical specification. 3. Reference Requirement No.13, Paragraph 4. This requirement requires 36 spindles and 18-36GB drives for the 500GB requirement. Is it acceptable to use fewer 36GB drives exclusively to meet the same storage capacity? EAFB Response: 36 GB Fibre drives are acceptable if it meets or exceeds the performance specifications of the 18 GB Fibre drives. 4. Reference Requirement No. 13, Paragraph 6. This requi rement states that 90 DLT cartridges are required and the Projected Items List states 100 cartridges. Which quantity is correct? EAFB Response: A minimum of 90 cartridges are required. A configuration of 100 cartridges is acceptable. 5. Does the government expect the bidder to provide the server connection hardware such as the Host Bus Adapter (HBA), the cable from the HBA to the SAN, etc. If so, please provide the following inventory hardware platform including model, the O/S, the O/S level for each and the distance to the SAN for each. The distance determines the type of adapter for each server and the fiber type required. EAFB Response: Yes: Ten (10) Compaq Proliant 6500 -- Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise Ten (10) Compaq Proliant 1850 -- Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise One (1) Sun Enterprise 5000 -- O/S Solaris 2.5.1 One (1) Sun Enterprise 250 -- O/S Solaris 2.6 Distance requirements are less than 100 meters and should be compatible with all types of host-bus adapters (HBA). 6. Reference Requirement No.23. The requirement "resolution lock depth" is not industry standard terminology. Please provide a detailed functional description of this facility. EA FB Response: Resolution lock depth is more commonly known as variable stripe depth per drive group. It concerns allocating across stripes to different servers (not necessarily a LUN, but it can be). It provides a tunable parameter for better performance. 7. In order to properly meet the online backup requirements please provide the following for each connected server: the hardware platform, the O/S, the O/S level and the database on the server. Reference #19. How do the servers break out by quantity. ie...How many NT boxes and how many Suns?
