of Veterans Affairs, North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health
System, Gainesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center (GVAMC), Research
Service, will continue their study with the University of Florida
Department of Medicine under an approved VA-Funded Merit Review Project
entitled "Age Related Changes In Tyrosine Hydroxylase Induction In
Adrenal Medula."(Nihal Tumer Scarpace, Ph.D. Principal Investigator).
The objective of this proposal is to investigate the failure of
adaptation with age. The present investigation will provide information
to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of the age-related defect in
homeostatic regulation and these discoveries may lead to new approaches
for treatment of hypertension in the elderly. This study will continue
effective 10/1/99 through 9/30/2000 with a two-year option for
