sfraser@pn.usbr.gov. This is a Pre-Solicitation Notice for Request for
Quotes (RFQ) No. 00SQ1000010. The RFQ will be issued on or about
October 18, 1999. Estimated price range of the work is $25,000 to
$100,000. The Bureau of Reclamation, Pacific Northwest Region has the
following requirement: The work consists of 1) disassembling and
rebuilding an existing traveling water screen, replacing the existing
screen fabric with new stainless steel woven wire screen fabric,
reinstalling the screen assembly, and installing a complete set of new
seals; and 2) earthwork for excavating existing reinforced concrete
and furnishing and placing new reinforced concrete. The Patton Valley
Pumping Plant is located approximately 1.5 miles northwest of Gaston,
Oregon in Washington County. We expect that this requirement could most
practicably be performed by USFilter/Intake Systems. The original
traveling water screen was manufactured by Envirex, which later merged
with other companies to become USFilter Intake Systems. We believe
that the work can best be performed by the original manufacturer of the
equipment for the following reasons. 1) USFilter manufactured and
supplied the screen in 1974. The company has the original design
drawings and/or shop drawings for the equipment, which means they have
access to complete fabrication and materials details of the equipment.
2) We anticipate that some of the moving parts are in need of
replacement. This company can use O.E.M. (Original Equipment
Manufacturer) parts. The components used in the screen are designed to
work together efficiently and effectively. The use of non-O.E.M.
components may reduce the service life and the efficiency of the
equipment. Interested parties may submit written, faxed, or e-mail
requests to receive a copy of the RFQ. The fax number is 208-378-5108.
There is no charge. Telephone requests will not be accepted. The
standard industrial classification is 4971, the size standard is $5
million. All responsible sources may submit a quote which will be
considered by this agency. All sources responding to this synopsis
shall submit information relating to business status, including
identification as to whether small, large, minority-owned and/or
woman-owned. See Numbered Notes #1 and 26. Posted 09/29/99
