Y -- LIGHTNING PROTECTION UPGRADE AT LAMBERT-ST. LOUIS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, ST. LOUIS, MO SOL DTFA09-00-R-20010 DUE 102999 POC Jim Barnett (jim.barnett@faa.gov) WEB: FAA Central Region Procurement Announcements, http://www.tc.faa.gov/cen/ace-55-2.htm. E-MAIL: DTFA09-00-20010, jim.barnett@faa.gov. SOURCES SOUGHT. The Federal Aviation Administration, Central Region, is seeking sources to provide Lightning Protection Upgrade,at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, St. Louis, MO. GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK: Replace all existing bolted connections on the lightning protection system with exothermically welded connections. This will include approximately 69 connections at the CAB and SUBJUNCTION levels, 16 connection to air terminals at the CAB and SUB-JUNCTION levels, and 32 air terminals/bonds at the BB roof level for an approximate total of 117 exothermic welds. Some locations may also require extension of the roof/down conductor length to allow room for the mold. All new construction shall be installed in accordance with NPFA 780 and FAA specifications. SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: It will be necessary for the contractor to schedule and plan all work, and coordinate with the COR, so that normal airport and FAA facility operations may continue. The Air Traffic Control Tower and Base Building operations are 24 hours a day seven days a week. Additional coordination with the airport authority and airlines may be required for locating equipment (crane) or other equipment at the base of the tower. The Air Traffic Control Tower is approximately 215 feet tall and due to its structure will require the use of special rigging to perform the required exothermic welding, bonding, and mounting of the lightning protection components. It will be feasible to use a crane for portions of this work, but access to all locations may not be possible due to the building layouts and equipment on the ground. Estimated total cost is between $50,000 and $75,000. Schedule: The FAA plans to start work on this project in late 1999 with completion in early 2000. Responses/questions should be addressed to Jim Barnett @ jim.barnett@faa.gov This announcement is not an RFP. Posted 09/29/99 (W-SN386337). (0272)
