Provide Urgent Care Physician services during non-administrative hours
for the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS), East and
West Campuses. The East Campus is located in Tuskegee, Alabama and the
West Campus is located in Montgomery, Alabama. The Contractor shall
provide a Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) for each campus. The hours
of duty are from 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. (West Campus), and 7:00 p.m.
until 7:00 a.m. (East Campus) Monday through Thursday. Friday the hours
of duty are from 4:30 p.m. (Friday) until 8:00 a.m. (Monday). All
federal holidays are from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. to the following
morning. The Medical Officer of the Day is responsible for the care of
all medicine, surgery, psychiatric, dom. & rehab., intensive care
unit, substance abuse patients and nursing home care unit residents in
the hospital and those patients who report to the admitting/emergency
room during the tour of duty (to determine need for medical care). The
Medical Office of the Day is also responsible for providing care to the
Medical Center personnel. The Contractor shall provide multiple
physicians to perform the required services, and each physician must be
credentialed and privileged by the VA prior to acceptance. Personnel
assigned by the Contractor to perform the services covered by this
contract must be Board Certified Physicians (either MD or DO) with AMA
or AOA approved residency training in Internal Medicine, Family
Practice, or Emergency Medicine or documented experience. Graduates of
non-US/Canadian Medical Schools must be certified by the E.C.F.M.G.
Individual must possess a current, full and unrestricted license to
practice medicine from the United States, its territories,
commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Individual must be able to
pass the Medical Center's credentialing process in accordance with the
Department of Veterans Affairs guidelines and regulations. The
contract period will be December 1, 1999 through September 30, 2000,
with the Government having the option torenew the contract annually for
four (4) additional years. Please request solicitation in writing.
Telephone requests will not be honored. The estimated issue date is
October 8, 1999, with an anticipated response date of November 29,
