Furnish all labor, material and equipment necessary to replace roofs at
Buildings #5 and #6 at U.S. Coast Guard Activities New York, Staten
Island, NY. The work includes the removal of approximately 8,000 SF of
slate shingles and replacement with new heavyweight asphalt shingle
roof, the removal of approximately 550 LF of lead coated copper gutter
line and 200 LF of downspouts. The work also includes the replacement
of tongue and groove sheathing, the installation of copper gutter
lining, downspouts, flashing and miscellaneous related work. This
Invitation for Bids is being issued pursuant to the Small Business
Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is open to both large and
small business participation. This project including is estimated
between $25,000 and $100,000. The applicable SIC Code is 1761. The
tentative date for receipt of bids is 2 December 1999. Bid packages
will be available on or about 26 October 1999 at a non-refundable
charge of $35. Certified Checks or money orders should be made payable
to Commercial Blue Print and Supply and mailed to the firm at: 83
Waverly Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306. Do not send fees to the Coast
Guard. Group site visits are tentatively scheduled for 18 and 23
November 1999. Further information shall be contained in the
solicitation. For minority, women owned and disadvantaged business
enterprises: the Department of Transportation (OSDBU) has programs to
assist minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to
acquire short term working capital and bonding assistance for
transportation related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible
prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT bonding assistance program
enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1
million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond
amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide
accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
