There is a possible future requirement for quantity of 429 binocular night vision optical systems which will desirably interface with a GPS (SPGR) into some form of head-up display units. These units can be either head or helmet mounted for a number of operational scenarios. The unit is to be light weight and robust suitable for para jumping, cross country driving or boating and without interfering with the Service respirator. It shall have an image intensified tube performance equal to or better than Gen3 omn/r with a 40 degree intensified field of view. It is desirable that there is a natural light channel and an IR illuminator. It is anticipated that a Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) solution be offered which has some reliability history. The requirement will also be for spares and proposals for logistic support together with handbooks and information to be supplied for use in Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP). Expressions of interest shall include company information, such as the latest accounts, brochures of the products offered together with information on lead times, noting our current plan to undertake on trials in April 2000.
